Comments Thread For: Jamaine Ortiz: "I Think If There's Anybody Who's Gonna Beat Shakur, It's Gonna Be Me"

By and large, Jamaine Ortiz marched into his showdown against Vasiliy Lomachenko as nothing more than cannon fodder. Though the 26-year-old successfully ushered Jamel Herring into retirement one fight prior, he was given essentially no shot at upsetting the Ukrainian star.

Now that’s actually a good fight. I liked Ortiz’s showing against Loma. He’s big, good speed, good feet, twitchy jab, some pop and can switch. I wouldn’t pick him to beat Shakur but I think he has the tools to push Shakur outta first gear. He’s definitely a great opponent with all the other guys at 135 being tied up. Honestly probably one of Shakurs toughest tests on paper in a while.

I like the fight and it makes sense since the other guys chumped. Ortiz is legit from what I’ve seen vs Lima, he had some success when he switched to southpaw. I like Ortiz speed and reach vs shakur

I respect the confidence, think it would be a good fight too.

Not saying Ortiz beats Shakur but it is one of those fights that is risky without much reward as they say.

Ortiz showed he had something in the Lomachenko fight. Now whether that was due to him having the night of his life or Lomachenko slowing down or he has gotten better that is to be determined.

It is a fight I like though because it is a new challenge for Shakur having to go against with the physical attributes that Ortiz has. If Shakur does indeed intend of fighting at 140 and 147 eventually then this fight makes sense as Ortiz is closer in stature to the guys in those weights.

This MF'er loss to Lomachenko on one of his worst nights ever! BUT he thinks he can beat Shakur, REALLY! Go sit your a_S down somewhere before I give you a spanking.

At least someone has enough confidence in themselves to take on this challenge!

you arent giving ortiz enough credit for having a style and enough toughness to give loma a good fight .

is loma better ,sure but ortiz isnt just some punk ,he is definitely game .

and he is the only guy that is willing to jump in right now with shakur

Think again Ortiz! Stevenson would school you by the later rounds in a fight between you two.
