Comments Thread For: Frank Martin: However Rivera Fight Goes, People Should Respect Us For Fighting Right Now

By Keith Idec - For Frank Martin, there was no time like the present to prove he is one of the most formidable lightweights in boxing. The undefeated southpaw could've chosen a less imposing opponent than Michel Rivera for his next fight and attempted to patiently position himself for a title shot in the 135-pound division. The 27-year-old Martin announced after his last fight, though, that he would face whichever lightweight was willing to step in the ring with him, and he obviously meant it.

Sometimes great prospect matchups are as good as championship fights. I want to see this fight 1000x more than a mismatch. This might be one of my most anticipated of the year. Like Martin says, this'll show who's who. This fight really is for the future of the division. Winner has big things for sure. Loser ain't a loser but gotta get it back now. Future rematch. Boxing could do this all the time. We can all think of some awesome fights that gotta get made right now that never will. When most of these prospect fights goes to the decision, it ends up a f'ing draw. That's the only worst scenario for a prospect fight. If theres a draw with no winner like in soccer, then its no longer a sport it's just some gay participation activity.

Salute to both of these YGs for stepping up! Vladimir Shishkin vs. Jose Uzcategui also on the card! That's what's up!

I was surprise when this fight got announced yesterday. Two top contenders will face each other and the winner gets full credit for the victory. With all the belts tied up this is the best decision to beat top rank guys to become one deserving mandatory fighter.

I'm definitely watching this one because both fighters have been working hard to get noticed and both are talented boxers. I'm leaning towards Martin because he carries a little more power in his punches, but both are skilled and should be held up as the standard of best fighting the best as soon as possible.
