Comments Thread For: WBA Calls For Oleksandr Usyk-Daniel Dubois Heavyweight Title Consolidation Clash

The WBA title dilemma in the heavyweight division was finally addressed--and in a big way. A significant step was made towards eliminating all secondary WBA titles, as the sanctioning body ordered a consolidation clash between Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois. The call came during the ratings and championships portion of the WBA Centennial Convention on Monday at Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida. Usyk holds the WBA 'Super' title along with the IBF/WBO belts, while Dubois is the WBA 'Regular' heavyweight titlist.

For once I want the WBA take a step back and let Usyk/Fury be for all the marbles. Them ordering Dubois vs. Usyk just seems like a favor to Fury. It'll delay the Usyk fight if Usyk decides that he wants to hold on to his three belt claim.

I want to give mad props to the WBA for their dedication to being such a crummy organization that just when you think they they were gonna finally suck less they pull out the big guns to order a fight nobody outside of Daniel Dubois' family wants to see in place of the first undisputed heavyweight championship in the 4 belt era.

Surprised the 3 unified belts have stayed together so long. HW sanctioning fees are the cash cow for these crooks. Getting rid of joke secondary belts likely means quicker stripping once title is unified. Won’t be able to satisfy all these mandatories when they defend once every 6-7 months

I dont see the point dubois having that belt. He's nowhere near ready for a shot at someone like usyk he's not a top 5 -10 heavyweight I just don't see the big rush he's what 24? We saw him against joyce before he was ready in his last fight that being dropped 3 ti times yeah he hurt his knee it seemed but that was caused by a punch that hurt him

WBA allowed Dubious fight and win the secondary belt then now claim they are trying to eliminate Secondary belt. I don't know who is more corrupt between African politicians and Boxing organizations

The WBA is absolutely correct in this ruling.

Usyk is a warrior representing the people of Ukraine. The Ukrainian people are honorable. They respect their obligations. Usyk-Dubois is a great fight. A UK Stadium fight. The UK owes the Ukrainian people this.

Fury-Joyce is also a great fight. Usyk has already toyed with Joyce. Can Fury do the same? I don't think so. Joyce is so much better now. While I think Usyk always beats Fury, I don't think Fury can beat Joyce right now.

Who gets Fury first? Joyce or Usyk?

Well Warren was saying that the WBA are first in line. Do think Dubois would benefit from 2 more top 10 fights but when you have a shot at the title what you gonna do.

What's happened with the Hunter-Fury eliminator? Is that now dead?
