  • Comments Thread For: Arum on Beterbiev-Bivol: I'm Not Going To Let Any Network Problems Stop a Fight That Should Be Made

Bob Arum has taken a more diplomatic approach to one of the most intriguing, but politically snakebitten, fights in boxing. Earlier this year, Arum made some prickly comments in regards to making a light heavyweight undisputed championship between his charge, WBO, WBC, IBF champion Artur Beterbiev and WBA titlist and fellow Russian Dmitry Bivol, who is promoted by Eddie Hearn of Matchroom.

Arum doesn't want the Bivol fight. Bivol has said many times he pefers a unification to a Canelo rematch - but Arum chooses to ignore that and then add that Artur can fight Callum when we know that unification trumps a mandatory.

Canelo is fighting Ryder in May. Late April through early June is a perfect time for the unification. Still gives the winner time to fight Canelo in September

Not for Beterbiev it isn't as he will be observing Ramadan from 22nd March to 21st April.

Canelo should be completely ignored when talking about 175 title fights. He showed what he has to offer against Bivol by winning 2 rounds. Bivol will school him again and Beterbiev will KO him.

Mauricio (WBC) said that Unification doesn't matter. Smith or bust.

I thought the Bobfather wanted no part of Bivol, whom he refers to as a boring fighter. He changed his mind because Beterbiev wants the fight.

The longer it takes to make, the more it favours Bivol (if Bivol isn't already the slight favourite).

Bivol has said he wants this fight, and there are presently no other mandated fights for either guy, so why not start negotiators straight after yarde?
