Canelo Alvarez and Dimitri Bivol met in the ring last November, with Bivol winning a unanimous decision. There’s been talk of a rematch, but it doesn’t seem likely that Alvarez would be able to win. Here’s why:
Bivol is a very technical fighter, and he showed in the first fight that he has the better boxing skills. Alvarez is more of a brawler, and he wasn’t able to land many clean shots on Bivol.
Bivol also has a significant reach advantage, which he used to great effect in the first fight. Alvarez would likely have the same problem in a rematch.
Finally, Bivol is younger and faster than Alvarez. Alvarez is still a very good fighter, but he’s not getting any younger. Bivol would likely have the advantage in a rematch.

Canelo has a good chance of defeating Bivol at 168

Yes because Bivol would be drained.

So, then, why didn't he take his own advice and rematch Hearns? Very easy to suggest a man do something; much harder to do it. (Duran was a fantastic fighter; nothing taken away from his career, btw).

Exactly who would buy a Hearns/Duran rematch?

This summary nails it. And by the middle rounds when Canelo knew he wasn't going to dominiate Bivol like he did with other opponents, the Mexican didn't have the IQ to adjust. With Bivol's discipline, Canelo could only watch himself lose round after round.

Similarly, Duran quit when he had no answer to Leonard's supreme boxing skills in the 2nd fight. I say this as a HUGE Duran fan.

Don’t lie to yourself, still a very lucrative fight.

So, Canelo losses, decisively, barely gets past GG, is more interested in golf, will be out of the ring for a year before he fights Bivol again, and this is still a lucrative fight?

Duran didn't mention money in this article. He mentioned rematching immediately, something he didn't do with Hearns. That's all I'm saying.

                    Great conversation, by the way

                    • What mistake is Duran referring too, all the Bivol fans say Canelo didn't have any mistakes he just wasn't good enough, maybe Duran saw some things that can be improved lol.
