Comments Thread For: At 115, Will a Golden Era Get Its Finish?

By Cliff Rold - In two weeks and change, one of the great rivalries of the twenty-first century will get what is likely its final chapter. It won't be the final chapter of the generation around it. Since Roman Gonzalez (51-3, 41 KO) rose to Jr. bantamweight in 2016, Jr. bantamweight has never been out of the conversation for best weight classes in boxing. His arrival was followed by other men who held titles below the 115 lb.

This is how I know that boxing is dying. 115 is the best division in boxing in which ALL of top 10 fighters fight and beat each other and no one talks about it. Everyone only wants to talk about Spence/Crawford not fighting each other, Tank/Garcia not fighting ANYONE, and Usyk/Fury not fighting each other. I'm a purist, I look at all divisions. I don't see any of these boxing youtube channels covering the divisions under 130 that much.

I've done at least four on Srisaket. Huge fan of his for years.

And the reason there's not more chatter is promotion. They don't get heavy promotion. They don't hardly do interviews either.

Because they're small and not American or British so unfortunately they're not going to get any play.

There is no big money at those weights so those guys have to fight each other multiple times. Even those great entertaining fights and great possible matches don't generate big purses and only hardcore fans can appreciate it. A pity because these guys have real skills and have fought their hearts out.

In those weights that is why they rack up loses because the top has to face each other. Finito was the exception.

Hopefully Choco can repeat his last performance and close the curtains on this trilogy as the man was clearly robbed of a deserved victory the last go around.

It may be the "finish" of this era but there's a budding star in Jesse Rodriguez ready to take the healm. He has the skills/style,personality and the hispanic fanbase/support to push him into the limelight.

OfficeHancho makes cool videos and always talks about the lighter weight divisions!!!!
