Comments Thread For: Bill Haney Praises Team Kambosos: "We Got The Utmost Respect For You Guys"

George Kambosos Jr. viewed his unanimous decision defeat to Devin Haney on June 5th, as somewhat inconsequential. Though his unified lightweight reign was short-lived, the Australian native was confident in his ability to dust himself off and change the outcome in their immediate rematch. But, in spite of his self-belief, Haney would go on to register yet another lopsided victory.

Amen. Someone else already said it round here, but both men had the balls to take ****ty terms on hostile territory.

What I’d add is that it teaches the rest of the LW division, the main WWs, and numerous HWs something.

This shows you how a boxer can be on top of the world for a few months, then be knocked down to contender in a wink. Teofimo was the man, then Kambosos, now Haney. Who is next? Shakur Stevenson is a hard fight for any of them. Davis is the most dangerous but can be outboxed. Ryan is a question mark until he fights one of the top guys. Etc.

I give Kambosos some credit, a lot actually, took a beating in the rematch and stayed on his feet.

He went 24 rounds with Haney, and that's a good experience. Haney clearly a better boxer than Lopez, whom George upset, but not as hard a puncher as Teofimo.

I've got to give Devin Haney all the credit in the world, for accepting one of the most grossly unfair contract's, and winning the title's.
He maintained his professionalism, concentrated on the task at hand, and beat Kambosos twice in his home town, that takes character.
He's got exceptional boxing skill's, his chin has held up, but he doesn't have the punching power to get the ultimate respect from some fan's.
That said there are fighter's who have been able to hold on to their title's for many year's, by just utilizing their exceptional boxing skill's.
