I think this is not a fair assessment of the whole situation about the status of Marquez in the P4P ratings...Marquez deserves the full credit for fighting Floyd (win or loss), not the other way around...Marquez showed a very good performance against all odds maybe his not comfortable on that weight but he showed a typical Mexican heart as well as a great fighter...Floyd doesn't deserve credit about the outcome not because he performs well but because he cheats...The catch weight is 144 lbs, whatever or how big the penalties charge to him it doesn't matter as long as a sure win he was expecting to achieve & after all millions of dollars of prize awaits for him...Marquez on his part risk it all fighting for the first time at a weight of 142lbs. against a bigger former P4P king...At the same time Floyd not complying with the said catch weight of 144 is cheating (142 against a 146 is too much difference to consider to ensure the fights outcome in favor of Floyd)...
You can't compare a performance of a smaller boxer dominance over bigger foes (Manny vs Oscar, Manny vs Hatton, Manny vs Diaz) against a big boxer dominance over a smaller foe (Floyd vs Marquez)...
One more thing for the author is that you have to give more importance & credit to a smaller fighter from a lower weight class fighting in the higher weight class no matter what the outcome is win or loss than a bigger fighter fighting a smaller one...And it doesn't justifies Floyd's rating by simply defeating a smaller fighter convincingly, the question is how he performs against his same size champions like of Mosely, Cotto, Margarito, etc...On Marquez part he simply solidifies his P4P rating & greatness by fighting bigger great champions & former P4P king on how the way he battles against all odds...
How about Floyd fighting Marquez at 135 and Marquez wins by a knock out probably he will be at #1...
How about Ruiz defeating Roy Jones probably Ruiz will be the P4P king...
