Golovkin’s career is one massive what might have been

Boxing waited out GGG. We never saw him really perform at the highest level in his prime. When he started getting decent fights he was already in the downslope it’s sad. There are three factors that need to be considered in analysing GGGs career:

    1. Early career mismanagement
    2. incorrect choice of coach (never go to a coach that is all about power punching- it just will not end well at the highest level)
    3. Business regions and being swerved by ever top fighter until he reached early 30s.

What would GGGs career have looked like if he got into the big leagues at an early age and with a coach that wasn’t so fixated on power punching?

What would the Canelo trilogy have looked like if they fought when both were in their 20s?

That's a fable....unless there are links to support it
    That request is often ''swerved''

My POV is, instead of PRIME GGG fighting BUMS his own size, he could have moved up and fought BIGGER BUMS. There is no way in hell anyone can CONvince me there was NO ONE up there willing to fight him

I'm sure that line of reasoning makes it easier to digest his laughable resume but it's pure fiction.

    He was definitely mismanaged, though.
He had everything going for him.
A bum padded KO record and chasing Hops MW record.
    HBO's blessings.
    All of those amateur W's....
    He was the prototypical Boogeyman.
Feed him tomatoes and watch his myth grow

Let me say, while his resume and path to fame is ludicrous, he is, or was, a very good fighter.
Had he been matched with tough opposition, who knows.
Mike Tyson was fed bum after bum....making people believe there was no man on Earth who could beat him.
Lo and Behold....an upgrade of opposition and that myth was destroyed.
Same might have been said about GGG.
We will never know. All we have are excuses....everyone swerved him and caught him when he was old.
Not one MFer mentioned his age UNTIL HE FOUGHT NELO !

    Why would they ?!?!?
He's only had a couple of tough fights in HIS LIFE.
Chenko should have gotten the win and that was GGG's 3rd toughest fight.
Other than that it's been easy street.

It's all about business decisions. G went for the money and stayed there, sadly that division was very thin. Even fights like Rubio are in every highlight. That says enough.

Who should he have fought at 160?

Give names and let’s break it down

Try telling that to the GGGroupies.
They swear everyone was hiding out in caves trying to avoid GGG.
It didn't help him when he said anyone from 154-168 and did the exact opposite.

Are you seriously going to argue that Canelo didn’t wait for a few years to roid while GGG got a bit older?

            Chavez didn’t swerve GGG?
Cotto didn’t basically say he didn’t want to fight him?
            Peter Quillin?
            Sergio Martinez?

I don’t understand why you would need one. We both have been on these forums so we’ve both experienced the swerving as it was happening in real time.

At this point I think that was misquoted or interpreted because he meant anyone from 154 - 168 as long as they fight at 160
