Comments Thread For: Vergil Ortiz Maintains His Forward March: Weekend Afterthoughts

Vergil Ortiz might be no worse than the second most promising young welterweight in boxing. Time may tell that he was the best of a bunch that also includes the talent Jarron Ennis and Eimantas Stanionis.

Yup, think Oscar has found Golden Boy’s first black star since BHop retired. Floyd’s a handsome kid w/t a very fan friendly style. Oscar gonna built him up on the Ryan Garcia undercard’s where he’ll get the exposure he’ll need to become a star.

Ortiz is a physically strong, powerful puncher, but I think Ennis would beat him, possibly by ko.

How bout fighting a guy who can **** for a change. I’m tired of watching these kids who are getting paid to fight suckers. This wouldn’t happened 20 years ago cause profighters got their experience in the AMATEURS.
Today they do it as a PROFESSIONAL and we got to PAY for their BULLSHEEIT learning experience.

Guess you didn’t watch the Mean Machine fight? Dude can **** w/t the best of them and is the only fighter to drop P4P Bud Crawford in a fight. Vergil dropped him 5 times before the referee waived it off, kid chin been tested and shown to be very durable

I am guessing GB made this fight to test Ortiz vs a lefty and Ortiz did not look good. GB should be worried about Ortiz fighting a top 10 lefty anytime soon.
