You gotta be convinced by now golden boy has nobody for Ortiz as a good enough opponent to match him with. McKinson was terrible and boring in his last fight against a late replacement. While Ortiz fights are entertaining to watch, a win over McKinson does nothing and doesn't do much for him in terms of gaining experience. Even worse, this fight is in Texas and we know how Ortiz gets when fighting in front of his hometown crowd which he admitted to being eager and somewhat reckless in getting the knockout. Call it a tune up or whatever but you can't say this isn't a mismatch. What advantage does McKinson have over him. Ortiz has been more than patient and deserves a title fight. If not a title fight, then a title eliminator. If he can't get either, then it's just a waste of time to stay at 147 especially knowing he's sacrificing much of his health to stay at this weight.

That pretty much goes for everyone at 147 since Spence and Crawford hold all 4 meaningful belts. Unless the fight between the two falls through, every other opponent at 47 will be a mismatch for Ortiz. At 154 Mell is undisputed and since he's PBC that fight isn't likely coming off either.

You got a point there. The only way Ortiz gets a fight with Spence or Crawford is if he leaves golden boy or becomes mandatory but that also depends on what Spence and Crawford do as their next move, stay at 147 or go to 154
