  • Comments Thread For: Gilberto Ramirez Aims For LA Showdown With Bivol, Then First Title Defense In Mexico

Gilberto Ramirez has lofty plans that extend beyond his forthcoming light heavyweight title challenge. The unbeaten former WBO super middleweight titlist is currently in the negotiation stage of a mandatory title fight with WBA light heavyweight champ Dmitry Bivol (20-0, 11KOs). The fight was ordered July 11, with the two sides granted a 30-day free negotiation period before the matter heads to a purse bid hearing.

That is a lot of plans without securing the fight first. He is thinking past Bivol and that is a mistake.

Sounds like a Wilder type gameplan to me. You'd think he is PBC. 44 fights with no real danger to date, finally fighting a real one and thinking it's a cake fight. Remember he was over at Top Rank and never uttered the name Beterbiev until he left. He thinks Bivol is the easier target.

joe Smith was the easiest. Nobody even brought him up when he had the title. Lol

Great to have big dreams, and Ramirez is already in his passion career.

Of course, don't put the cart before the horse.

Bivol and team need to get this fight signed. Zurdo fought two eliminators to get here so get the fight signed and announce a date already. Hopefully this doesn't have to go to a bid first.

Bivol has to take the fight or he’s finally exposed for ducking Zurdo..

I like Zurdo to cruise to victory over that robotic Russian

The same 'robotic Russian' that made Canelo look like a flat footed amateur? If they fight, I'm sure it will be competitive, but assuming that he'll just 'cruise to victory' is laughable!

Yep. Ramirez has fought two eliminators already, no more stalling.

Let's go. It will be an entertaining scrap.
