Comments Thread For: Danny Garcia: Time Off Was Very Important; My Mind Felt Foggy; Didn't Feel Sharp

Danny Garcia needed a mental break from boxing. The former junior welterweight and welterweight champion competed twice in 2020, once just before the COVID-19 pandemic began and again 10 months later in one of the biggest fights of his career. As thankful as he is to have earned a multi-million-dollar paycheck to box during the middle of a global health crisis, Garcia was exhausted by the time he got to fight night to challenge Spence for his IBF and WBC welterweight titles in December 2020.

Garcia should definitely keep fighting to earn his money, but I can't see him being a champion again...

Basically money is running low..am gonna come back make some money and go back on my hiatus again. Part time fighter I can understand but no active boxer should be taking 19 months off.

Wish this man all the best due to some good fights he gave us but the truth is just a few articles ago he was saying the pandemic hindered his recent performances but now all he needed was a mental break?? Tf is going on with this contradicting sort of confessions?

Once Danny beat matthysse and all that he was never the same. I think fame got to his head and he got lazy. In close fights like vs Porter and others he just doesnt let his hands go enough and let's rounds go. Even vs spence which he probably wasn't gonna win anyway but he's content just throwing a low workrate and not letting it all go. Did the same with thurman. Which Danny the best but at 34 moving up to 154 and he's already small I can't see him having much success against the best at that weight.

Yeah, his loser father who has lived vicariously through his son and off of his son makes it hard for him to retire. His twin sisters want to be singers and put out records. Who pays for that? Danny of course. His father was on welfare before his son made it big. Danny has a huge responsibility. He'll be broke in a few years and getting whipped by guys who wouldn't have belonged in the ring with him in his youth.
