Comments Thread For: Barboza: I Still See Teofimo Lopez As A Priority, I Think Everybody At 140 Should

There was a time when Arnold Barboza expected to see Teofimo Lopez Jr. in the opposite corner this weekend. That fight didn't quite pan out but is one that the unbeaten junior welterweight contender believes is still within reach.

Why would Teofimo be 'the priority," when he doesn't have any belts? Winner of Ramirez vs. Zepeda is the priority, and Teo should be Plan B!

Can't wait for Matias vs. Ponce! Rumor has it, it will be on October 8th! War Browny!!!

Barboza's right I think that most of the fighters ranked at 140, and some who aren't ranked at all will want to test the former unified champion.
You don't only fight others in the profession just for the title, sometimes you fight other fighters to get yourself ranked, or to get you into title contention.
He's a damn good name to have as a win on your boxing record, if you can actually beat him, which isn't an easy task, but as Kambosos proved not impossible.

That part! If Teo had not been beaten b4 moving to 140, he should be "the priority," however he was beaten, so he might be a priority for Barboza, but not for "everybody at 140."

I'm looking forward to seeing Teofimo Lopez back.

He needs to get his head on straight and live up to his high potential.

I didn't say everybody, those were Barboza's words, I agreed in the sense that I said most fighters would want to face Lopez Jr at 140 pounds.
I already explained why, so I won't go back, and forth on a matter of opinion, the quickest way for fighters to leap frog up the ranks, is by taking on a former champion.
That's not even an opinion, it's a simple matter fact in the boxing world, a lot of fighters are going to want to take on, and take out Lopez Jr.
Thinking that if Kambosos a relatively unknown fighter in the boxing world before he fought Lopez Jr, could beat him so could they, and they'll want that name on their win column.
I can't explain it clearer than that, but your entitle to disagree with me, that's what makes this, and other boxing platform's interesting.
There are a few fighters at the 140 pound weight division whom I believe can beat Lopez Jr, and will do so in the near future.
To be fair there are fighters that I believe Lopez Jr. can beat in the 140 pound division as well, it's all going to play out in the not to distant future.

People are sleeping on Teo after his loss I think he still got a lot to offer and that was just a real bad fight for him out of the ring and it showed in the ring.

Probably the air in his (Lopez) head is now deflated, and realize that he's just an ordinary boxer with ordinary skill.

Everybody but the 'Tartan-TornA$$hole' Josh Taylor.

But they not ready for the 'Takeover' at 140. By the way, this is the second time I read an article about Arnold Barboza, I guess he knows that hes not getting a title shot anytime soon, in spite the fact that he been campaigning at jr. welterweight forever, so hes thinking I'm 30 and yet to get a bag, maybe Teofimo is my ticket.

But listen you need to focus on your upcoming opponent, 'El Zorro' might sleep yo ass.

All good! Barboza made it seem like Lopez was the man @ 140, when clearly he's not! He's not even the man @ 135! If fighters choose to make their names off "former" champions, I get it, but I think they should be wanting the guys at the top, like Ramirez, Taylor, and Zepeda! All 3 just so happen to be Top Rank fighters!
