Comments Thread For: Beterbiev-Smith Main Event Drew Average Audience Of 912,000 Viewers On ESPN

Artur Beterbiev's power surge in the ring was met with a ratings spike among home viewers. The June 18 edition of Top Rank Boxing on ESPN fired on all cylinders, including a main event where an average of 912,000 viewers tuned in for Beterbiev's second-round, technical knockout of Joe Smith Jr. Beterbiev defended his unified lineal/WBC/IBF light heavyweight championship while violently snatching Smith's WBO title in Saturday's headliner at Madison Square Garden's Hulu Theater in New York City.

It was worth the watch, total one sided beating but was fun to watch still. Especially if people watched both main fights. That Ramirez KO was excellent.

There's industry-wide demand for unification between Beterbiev and Bivol but of course we won't get that fight.

Instead we'll get Beterbiev vs Yarde which there is practically zero demand for.

Third best ESPN rated show of the year behind Stevenson vs Valdez and Haney vs Kambosos. Good stuff!

Came in to rant about this.

Why in the fuck would boxing do this to itself?

Yarde earned a title fight. He can get it next. Pay him a fair step aside amount.

Beterbiev v Bivol is imo the 2nd best fight the sport can make now behind Spence v Crawford.

Both are healthy and rested after dominant defenses. Make it next.

If Hearn blocks this from happening, I hope fans hold him accountable.

                  Agreed.

Except it's Bob Arum that's blocking this from happening. He's already on record saying that Bivol is boring and has no pizzazz.

Yarde did not earn the Kovalev fight and has not earned this mando. Frank Warren and CORRUPTION $$$ is the only reason he is in the picture.
