  • Comments Thread For: Hearn: I've Been Around The World Very Aggressively; I Come In Peace To Australia

Eddie Hearn immediately cautioned against an Australian takeover. The iconic promoter proudly announced the launch of his Matchroom Boxing's debut effort Down Under, with their first show set to take place this September at a location to be determined in Australia. The maiden voyage will feature several of the company's rostered fighters, including an all-Aussie main event between unbeaten rising contenders Liam Paro (22-0, 13KOs) and Brock Jarvis (20-0, 15KOs) in a junior welterweight clash.

Lol looks like muggins there had a big helping of humble pie with his failure in the usa due to his bragging and outright insults of American fighters and open attempts to put one specific American boxing manager/advisor out of business. Oh the tales of what might have been for the silver spoon Brentwood schoolboy…mind your manners in Oz young Edward, and show some respect when you’re in another man’s country

I think if he uses the UK blueprint he might do ok. He just needs to up the eyeballs on the local hall shows and get that north south rivalry going. It's all about production values....getting the cameras in and putting on a show so it seems like a night out.

Hearn, like Warren, is a snake, not to be trusted.

Why would Ebonie Bridges not be fighting on a card in Australia?

the UK blueprint that made him so successful here was basically piggy-backing on football via sky sports news. As soon as the alliance with sky sports ended so did the huge viewing numbers. If there is even one tenth of the sky subscribers buying DAZN in the UK legitimately i'd be very surprised.

You're right about the north south divide in that it builds interest. How many all Manchester clashes did we have between reds and blues? or Manchester vs Liverpool. Or London derbies between old stable mates.

              Nonsense tbh.

Hearn IS a good salesman, he convinced people Audley Harrison had a chance against David Haye ffs.

Yes silver spoon and all the rest but people forget when Hearn came on to the scene in the UK he was a breath of fresh air.

Theres this weird dissonance in that people seem to have blacked out the memory of the state British boxing was in when hearn arrived on the scene (it was DIRE). We had David Haye who refused to work with Warren promoting himself, and fat mick unable to get Froch a fight on home soil because he couldn't promote him well enough to sell out an arena. That was British boxing when hearn stepped in.

Hearn did a lot of work in bringing more casual audiences to boxing, which got more eyes on the product and lead to more investment.

The DAZN thing hasn't panned out, and it is in large part due to DAZN failing to secure any other sport for their platform, that wasn't what Hearn was signing up for btw, he was promised a platform that was going to be featuring champions league football as a minimum as well as other aggressive bidding, DAZN hasn't delivered any of that so he's working with what he can.

Hearn is no angel, but the hate hard on for him continues to be ridiculous, the "good old Warren days" were not as people remember them, and DAZN failing isn't Hearns fault, DAZN is supposed to be a sports streaming platform featuring boxing, instead hearn is literally carrying the platform.

Not hating on Hearn I agree with a lot of what you said.

I also disagree with some of it. He nearly killed British boxing when sky agreed the exclusivity deal. Promoters like Ricky Hatton getting dropped via email after making the broadcaster millions and millions was awful behaviour. Ricky Burns having that ding-dong with Rocky Martinez and then found himself out in the wilderness getting shafted for pay packets every other fight with about 100 viewers. The Haye/ Harrison B/S you alluded to. He admits himself it nearly killed PPV boxing.

I don't hate on Hearn I might make the odd comment about his trustworthiness but I don't get weird and start calling him edward and pretending that he's failing in life. You even said it yourself about how he attracted the casual fans eyes to the brand. Here's the goals from the united game on the weekend. Now here's an interview with Anthony Crolla. You could set your watch by it mate.

Guess Edward John learned regarding boasting about a takeover. Since he is an epic fail in the US of A.

No one of note leaves PBC island if you play nice or not.

All the fighters on the DAZN side seem to be able to move over for the big fights but PBC island its a life sentence.

Eddie owned the womens boxing but he's supplied all of Mayers recent opponents and sent Alicia over rather than do a PBC and freeze them out. Haney as Canelo were free to travel when the big fights came round.

You can see why the PBC starve there fighters though, I mean that Davis vs Farmer fight was just a cash give away, still looks like Fox has given up on boxing as Haymon burnt through that check .. still Top Rank and ESPN presumably all the fighters will be owned by Bob soon.
