POLL: Who Wins – Tank Davis vs Devin Haney – And How Does Fight Go?

Haney wants this fight and it seems that Tank does too, so who wins this matchup and how does it go? Tank KO's Haney? Haney playing it ultra-safe and gets a decision?

I'm going to ride with Tank because I like him as a boxer more.

But Haney will present the same issues Tank had with Barrios and Rolly.

The size and reach disadvantage trouble Tank but with Haney's safety-first approach, he'll likely never expose himself to the power of Tank the way Barrios and Rolly did.

So Tank will have to reach (we saw him reaching vs Rolly a little bit) or he will have to do a JCS-Taylor, 12th round 2:58 knockout.

Cause Haney can and will do a Klitschko to win.

In a clean fight, with a good ref who doesn’t tolerate all that hugging, Tank eventually catches Haney and destroys him. Haney has a very, very suspect chin. I didn’t like his reactions from Kambosos clean power shots on him. And obviously the way he reacted to Linares, who’s not necessarily a KO artist.

Haney chose to “fight” Diaz because Diaz is a light puncher and an easy target, with good grit and determination. But Haney was scared of Kambosos for some reason, who isn’t a big puncher.

But tbh, Haney could be unbeatable if he will always be allowed to clinch and hold every other second of every round for 12 rounds. I mean how can you beat a guy who just jabs and clinches? In order to beat Haney, with a soft ass ref who doesn’t warn or anything, you’re going to need to practice way more than just boxing. To beat Haney, you need to practice wrestling. Legitimately. You need to practice maneuvering out of holds. Unfortunately, that should be the refs job but it looks like that’s just a tactic that boxers will need to learn how to stop it themselves.

Rolly and Barrios are bigger punchers though. Tank had to he careful with that. Not just their size.

Haney is chinny and a weak puncher. Tank has no need to reach or lunge or be careful with Haney. He just needs to let his hands go in close quarters. The only issue Haney poses to any top fighter (Lomachenko, Tank, Garcia, Kambosos, Lopez) is his holding and wrestling. He has nothing else.

He was favored to win vs Kambosos, I thought he would win very widely. But he won 116-112 imo, not that wide. And that was mainly due to his clinching. That’s all he has.

He hasn’t even fought a real threat yet. All smokes and mirrors, careful picked fights.

I'm right there with you on that evaluation of Haney.

But he does have good hand speed and his size will play a factor. However, it's mainly that Haney has no desire to risk it. He'll comfortably box like a Klitschko behind the jab and if anyone gets close, he'll grab. Every round.

From my view, I don't see Haney ever opening up or getting into exchanges with Tank unless Tank pressures for it. Like Linares did and wound up wobbling Haney.

So, Tank will have to reach or welcome a lot of free jabs (like how he did pre-knockout of Leo Cruz) in order to do what you said, let his hands go on the inside. In my opinion.

Haney jabs Davis head off & outboxes him either.

Haney has good defense, the only way Davis wins is if Haney tries to fight him like he did Linares in round 10 of their fight.

              Easy fight for Haney!

Tank wins and Haney's elementary jab and hug style will not work on a guy like Tank.

The people who think he is some defensive wizard based on his boring fight against Kambosos don't know much about boxing.

Kambosos had a Buster Douglas moment against Teofimo, that is all that happened. Teofimo beats him 9 out of 10 times.

Tank could be easier for Haney to hug because he's small.
I just don't know if Haney could bend his body that low for Tank.

I think you should restart this poll. Let the members see who is voting, so they can't try to blend after the fact, and deny their pick. I wanted to vote but not in this case. This fight might be a possibility. Let the members vote for the long haul if it's announced.

Make it an open poll. Not a secret one.
