Comments Thread For: Anthony Joshua Pumped Over Addition of Robert Garcia For Usyk Rematch

Anthony Joshua will have a renowned voice in his corner for his upcoming heavyweight title rematch against Oleksandr Usyk. The London-based Joshua confirmed that he will be working with veteran trainer Robert Garcia of Riverside, California, to prepare for his heavyweight clash with WBO, WBA, and IBF champion Usyk later this summer. The two fighters are projected to fight in Saudi Arabia, possibly on July 23, although recent reports suggest the fight could take place as late as the middle of August.

I don't know what Garcia can do for Joshua to be honest. You can tell Garcia is a hard-working trainer but I've never seen anything special from him. He tends to do better with one-dimensional fighters in one-dimensional fights

I actually love Robert. I could listen to his interviews all day. I think if he can get into Joshuas head, they could really be onto something.

You are right about the dimension thing, but I think Joshua in this fight needs educated pressure and an inside game. That’s something Robert excels at. His fighters are usually hardworking and honest. Maybe Mikey had more of a brain, but Franco, Maidana and others, he’s done pretty well with.

Robert Garcia is very good when it comes to teaching offense.

That's what Joshua needs to get back to doing against Usyk.

Robert fighters usually press forward behind a hood jab and a nice work rate . Which is what beats usyk at heavyweight imo .
good choice by Joshua . I’m a fan of both so hopefully they mesh well

2 time 2 tone tight pants Tooney (Femi) is hoping and praying Garcia will help him beat Usyk.

Delay delay delay... to protect Aj? Mid August is ages away.

Trust me, I would love to see Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua - its a fight the world will talk about and the whole of the UK will stop and debate/watch.

It's an interesting move, Garcia is a good trainer, was a tad overrated but very solid guy. He lives for the sport, surely he brings plenty to the table. I still think AJ loses but may have a shot early if he is aggressive.

Who can A.J. sparring to try and replicate what Usyk brings to the table? That's a key component to the camp IMO and Usyk double is hard to find that size.

Garcia isn't going to be able to do a damn thing with him considering the fight is less than two months away.

AJ isn't even leaving the comforts of home - Robert Garcia is flying in to train him in London for a few weeks and cash a check.

When AJ loses again, he'll blame Garcia.
