Nothing new here. Networks are destroying boxing. People think it's promotional companies but it's the networks that want to have nothing to do with each other. Now that DAZN has entered the PPV arena, theoretically, ESPN and DAZN could orchestrate a cross-network broadcast of fights. Bivol vs Beterbiev might be a hard one to sell on PPV, however. Arum is adamant about not letting anything happen on DAZN and vice-versa with DAZN regarding ESPN.

Lineal being a list of men who beat men is a lie. To make a nice long coherent lineage we've made up and accepted made up nonsense. For example Tyson beat Wlad and that's fair and true, but who did Wlad beat? Wlad becoming lineal involves a story about rating.

When a man clears the division they can claim a vacant lineal championship. A man being rated 1 on a fake promotional ratings board and another being 2 on the same promo board does not justify a vacant lineal going to anyone. Unless, of course, you just don't know the lineal traditions. It's made up nonsense we accept because we have a demand for simplification in boxing, which is fine, but what is not fine is claiming a title that existed before ratings existed is somehow now regulated by modern ratings on unofficial boards.

Ratings were created specifically to get around the lineal tradition that is champion's prerogative. The only man in true lineal tradition who can pass a vacant belt to another man who has yet to actually clear the division of challengers is the retired lineal champion. If there is a vacancy there's only two ways to fill it. Beat up everyone or get the blessing from the former. Ratings are how we got around that as boxing became too large to expect a fighter to fight everyone in his division. Ratings are a sanctioning body advent, not a lineal tradition.

Canelo needs to clean up 160.

Bud and Spence cleaning up 147 later this year.
        Small and insignificant.

Hearn and GBP have an exclusive agreement with DAZN.

Haymon has a multi-network agreement with Fox and Showtime.

Arum has an exclusive agreement with ESPN.

None of these promoters, who are running a business, are going to send their valuable boxers to other platforms unless there is an extreme benefit... IE a Canelo PPV.

This is what boxing is in the post-HBO world.

Don't like it? Watch somethin' else.

The only time all roads leads to one man, ever, in the entire history of boxing, is when undisputed exists. One name as champion is an exclusively undisputed situation.

But **** heads who never once cracked a book keep sucking off Nat Fleischer so promoters and sanctioning bodies have little reason to do more than buy a ****ing cheap ass ring belt, make up some rules out of their asses, and crown whoever TF they feel like Lineal so the fans can cheer for that like it's not a piece of **** ruining the integrity of the very thing it claims to uphold.

So, no one gives a **** about undisputed anymore. They're too stupid to know they should.
I agree with this 100%. A bona fide "lineal title" should start and end with an undisputed champion. Other lineages are of interest only to history buffs and fanboys or promoters looking for reasons to hype a particular fighter.

Fighters should be respected for who they beat, not for who a list of other guys beat before they even stepped in a ring.

It's my firm belief that we would have an undisputed heavyweight champion right now if Bob Arum had wanted it to happen.

I don't blame Wilder and his team for doing everything they could to enforce a third fight with Fury. But Arum could have terminated the Fury/Wilder trilogy contract and allowed Fury to fight AJ for all the belts, if he'd wanted to do it, and he didn't.

It’ll happen. Bivol will go to ESPN if that’s what it takes, as Hearn has said. I do think Arum rather Zurdo vs Beterbiev though for that mexican fanbase.
