No, he chose a fighter he thought was very beatable because he’d had a few unmotivated performances and not that big at 175

I think anyone in a weightclass thinks about fighting the best fights of the weight class but whether or not that happens is a different story.

Look at lightweight for example. We could be seeing Lomachenko vs Davis, Ryan vs Cruz, while Haney fights Kambosos. But instead, it's Rolly and a hiatus? While Ryan ducks even his mandatory fights, so, these boxers or on a different script these days.
I hear you. I don't think Benn's team/handlers would put him in with Boots just yet. Hence why they were trying to get Broner or someone along those lines. They have a responsibility to put their guy in the best position by putting him in winnable fights and raising his profile. A fight with Boots now could derail everything.

As far as Ryan, he's far too unstable emotionally. I don't think he warrants any attention until he actually lives what he talks. Meanwhile, let the other guys who are fighting handle their business and get the attention for doing their jobs.

he wants title fights without doing the leg work to get them.

go fight Conor Benn and make a case for yourself to meet the best of the best.
Do you think Benn wants to fight Boots?

a blatant duck is when a fighter takes less money for an easier fight
a regular duck is when an easier opponent is chosen for equal pay
smart business decision when an easier or equal opponent is taken for more money

then there is belt dropping too. same kind of deal

    Pretty much.
However, if a tough fight and an easy fight were the same money......

Boxers saying that is just procrastinating really.

Idk how long you've been keeping up with boxing but if it's been long, then you already know these guys say a lot but their actions don't always follow what they say.

Even fighters I like, they say the same thing. So, I take that typical boxer statement with a grain of salt.
I've followed boxing a very long time - enough to tell the difference between machismo and confidence

    why not name them?

The Ring has Ennis at no.4. at welter
    1. Spence - he'll fight Crawfordfirst - more money
    2. Crawford - he'll fight Spence first for legacy and more money
    3. Ugas - just fought - but I doubt he'd take a comeback fight against Ennis - props if he does but imo he'd be mad to do so
    4. Ennis
    5. Ortiz - in a similar position to Ennis but more marketable - they are on similar but different trajectories - but this would be a helluva matchup - can see Tean Ortiz not wanting it even if Virgil willing
    6. Stanionis - this would be a great fight but I think Stanionis is mandatory now for the WBA so he can avoid Ennis and sit on his mandatory
    7. Thurman - not a chance in hell unless he gats paid ****** money and PBC wont do that - can make more feeding him to Spence either before or after Bud fight
    8. Avanesyan - just shooting practice
    9. Benn - Hearn says he will keep Benn away from Stanionis and Avanesyan - x 2 for Ennis
    10. Butaev - could happen but won't elevate Ennis much
