Comments Thread For: Hearn on Joshua-Usyk: Very Good Chance You Will See it on July 23 in the Middle East

Eddie Hearn, promoter for Anthony Joshua, says the rematch with Oleksandr Usyk is very close to being finalized for July 23 in the Middle East. Last September at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Usyk outboxed Joshua over twelve rounds to capture the IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO heavyweight titles.

We’re about 2 months away and this fight hasn’t been confirmed. Hearn and team constantly reminding us that the fight is “almost a done deal” makes me feel that it could potentially fall apart. I hope not but I won’t believe it until it’s signed and announced.

How hard is it to say "I don't know, the deal isn't done yet"?

Joshau-Usyk 2 was always going to be in the Middle East just like Joshua-Ruiz 2 was cause that's where the most money is, Eddie needs to quit lying about a lucrative offer from the US that doesn't exist, Eddie Hearn the king of propaganda

What are the chances we'll see an 18 ft ring?

Eddie knows this was always the plan , at least say we are more bothered about the money than letting the fans who built us see it!

Eddie doesn't want to confirm its in Saudi, or Dubai to be specific, because of the controversy around human rights.

There's been some noise and complaining about a golf league there too, but yeah, people are going to go where the most money is.

That's the market. Why should Usyk fight AJ in London anyway, he's the champion now, don't give up more advantages.

Usyk is the champion but he has literally zero commercial value, he would do a half full arena in that "secondary" small arena they have at MSG if he was defending vs a standard opponent like a brezeale or someone.

Hearn and AJ will sell the fight and make Usyk a load of money so he has nothing to complain about tbh

The second fight will be a much harder sell in the UK than the first one was.

The first one even, people in the UK had serious doubts about AJ but they thought he would probably get past Usyk to set up the fury mega fight.

Now people in the UK rightly see Fury as the #1 heavyweight, miles in front of AJ

AJ has lost twice now and there's no longer that doubt that maybe AJ just had a really off night in Ruiz 1,no, AJ has been fully exposed.

The glory hunting casuals aren't going to pay top dollar for tickets in the UK because they doubt AJ will win, and as Usyk has zero commercial value except for a few Ukrainian migrants, the fight honestly just isnt viable for a stadium fight in the UK. Its an O2 level event.

                    So in summary

Joshuas stock and commercial value is through the floor

Usyk never had any commercial value and has John Ruiz level commercial value as the champ

Saudi idiots with more money than sense want to stump up another 100 mil

                    Do the math
