  • Comments Thread For: PED Testing Expense Excludes Most Fighters From Protection Stevenson, Valdez Received

By Keith Idec - LAS VEGAS - Shakur Stevenson seemed pleased Thursday with the extent of performance-enhancing drug testing prior to his showdown with Oscar Valdez on Saturday night. Comprehensive PED testing was a point of emphasis for Stevenson and his team during negotiations for their 130-pound title unification bout because Valdez tested positive for Phentermine, a substance banned by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association both in and out of competition, a month before he was allowed to box Brazil's Robson Conceicao on September 10 in Tucson, Arizona.

What a shame Oscar Valdez, you through away any credibility to your legacy in boxing like Tyson Fury. There is no honor in beating Shakur Stevenson even if you do not fail another test, considering you should be banned and stripped right now.

How is the Las Vegas Athletic commission allowing this 'unification' to take place? Where is the outrage by the Association of Boxing Commissions?

Valdez is tough as nails and Stevenson skilled as hell. Let the leather fly. I got my money on the sweet science of boxing. Stevenson by U.D or late stoppage. Valdez is about to get that work

I like when Shakur says, "I never got caught cheating." Ha ha. Not, "I never cheated."

Maybe it's a harmless phraseology, but I personally assume everybody's using pharma in boxing. So to me, "I never got caught cheating" is the most that most boxers can honestly claim.

Every since Floyd Mayweather got caught with a needle in his arm, got a back dated the****utic exception, and his paid for doctors words were enough to satisfy VADA. I knew for certain there are no rules there is only money. Neither of these two have real money. Shut up and box. As far as Stevenson goes, if we really want a clean sport we shouldn't have professional boxers degrading women and committing felony assaults on civilians in gas stations. I don't care about trace amount of PED's, and I dont care about petty fights over chicks. This cancelling stuff is getting old though, shut up box

“First of all, it’s prohibitively expensive,” promoter Lou DiBella told BoxingScene.com. “You could never do it on a small show, like even a small, televised show. You could never do testing on say a ‘ShoBox’ event. Fighters could be in the WBC program or whatever, but you can’t really do testing. … You’re never gonna get to a place where everyone’s tested because it’s way too expensive. But the real problem as to why there’s not adequate testing is the inadequate regulation of professional boxing. Forget about Valdez. Most states don’t even do MRIs, forget about steroid testing.”
Crawford/Porter was stuck on ESPN+ and barely sold 125k. Does that mean Crawford wasn't tested...?

One mistake? Maybe…how many fighters from the same camp is that now and folks still wanna argue clenbuterol? Lmfao. Reynosos gym is starting to sound like the official frankenstein lab of boxing.
