  • Comments Thread For: Stevenson: Valdez Fight Will Turn Me Into Superstar; People Don't Really Know How Good I Am Yet

Shakur Stevenson envisions his fight against Oscar Valdez becoming his true coming-out party. Decisively defeating the unbeaten WBC super featherweight champion April 30 will show the uninitiated, Stevenson suspects, that he is an elite-level talent worthy of pound-for-pound status and bigger purses more commensurate with his skills. The undefeated southpaw discussed the opportunity that awaits him in their 12-round, 130-pound title unification fight and what awaits him when he wins during an interview with ESPN's Mark Kriegel.

“I feel like this the biggest fight of my life,” Stevenson said

Yes, it is the biggest so far! Hope you trained like it!

Hope i'm wrong, but he seems to be setting himself up.. Connor Mcgregor was a superstar despite getting slapped silly bi Diaz in the first fight. Winning helps for sure, but these things are like elections, 30% will hate you npmatter what, 30% will love you no matter what and it's about the 40% in the middle and half of those are more influanced by hype than facts.... ih he become star, tapes of the street fight will come out again and folks won't let anyone forget. Get paid, focus on legacy and mabe the world will forgive and forget.

Let's not put the cart before the horse there homeboy. Just because you were able to a left hook from some chick in that parking structure, doesn't mean you can take Oscar's!.....Stevenson should comfortably box his ears off but Oscar will have a punchers chance no doubt.

Yes Shakur is an insufferable AH but he is confident and can fight better than most. Oscar is a nice guy and a puncher but will have big trouble hitting this guy.

Damn, that’s some case of man love you got going on there. No one even mentioned Canelo and you automatically go there. I believe you’re infatuated.

Let me tell you something funny. I'm usually quick to get back at you for som ****** **** but I thought I was replying to the thread about Valdez saying he's learned alot from Canelo so my **** up. Like dayday said "pimps **** up too".

with that said I think Shakur is gonna beat Valdez pretty easily. Horrible style match up for Oscar plain n. Simple.

For not having a shoulder-roll style or an airtight defense (though he does have an exceptional defense) - what he does great that is similar to Mayweather is he takes away the opponent's strengths. I could be wrong but I just think Stevenson will exploit Valdez' in a similar but better manner to a number of fights where Valdez opponent's almost had enough to outbox him and arguably in his last one, may have.
