Comments Thread For: Canelo: Nobody Can Beat Me Right Now; I'm In My Prime

Canelo Alvarez is brimming with otherworldly confidence ahead of what may be his toughest assignment in several years. The Mexican superstar is scheduled to face WBA Russian light heavyweight titlist Dmitry Bivol in a 175-pound match May 7 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Alvarez, who has amassed titles in four divisions, has been tearing through the competition lately. He further enhanced his profile last year by completely unifying the 168-pound division with an 11th-round knockout of Caleb Plant.

If you truly felt invincible you wouldn't have gone out of your way to duck Charlo, Benevidez, and Andrade.

    Are you a great fighter?

    Yes, undoubtedly.

Definitely top 3 in the world right now.

But to day nobody can beat you while ducking the biggest threats to your rain is just plain hyocritcal and delusional.

This is what I've told my close friends and relatives; I believe Canelo's confidence is so high that he's buying into his own greatness. What I'm saying is that Canelo is truly, 100% confident in himself right now. He truly believes that he can't be stopped. There's not a hint of doubt in him. This Bivol fight is a risky venture. He may not have the same momentum he had 2-3 years ago but he's a natural 175 pounder in his prime. I'm not a huge fan of his but you have to respect the tear that Canelo has been on since the second Golovkin fight.

I tend to agree with Canelo. I don’t think Bivol or GGG will beat him this year.

Would love to see him in with Bieterbiev, Charlo or Benavidez. He’s never fighting Andrade.

Too bad he’s at 168 and 175 because if he was still at 160, the Spence/Crawford winner would be a great matchup imo.
