Comments Thread For: GGG On Murata's Losses: Boxers Can't Be Judged By Single Fight; Everyone Has Bad Days

Gennadiy Golovkin will turn 40 on Friday and has boxed only one time in the past 30 months. The IBF middleweight champion therefore feels as though the last thing he should do is assess Ryota Murata based on the two upset defeats the Japanese star surprisingly suffered in May 2017 and October 2018. Golovkin has sparred against Murata, too, thus he is well aware that the WBA "super" middleweight champion is better than he showed when he lost a 12-round split decision to Hassan N'Dam and a 12-round unanimous decision to Rob Brant.

Murata's best win is an avenged loss to Rob Brant... His defence is porous and he stands in the pocket and trades. GGG will batter him for the late stoppage.

Got the feeling GGG is up for this, and wants to demolish Murata, I'll go for murata being completely splattered in Rd 5

Murata lost to N'dam was a robbery so I don't see any reason to comment on it. His performances against Brant were worlds apart. Very rarely does an older fighter come back from being dominated like Murata was and then blow out the same opponent in a rematch. Still, unless Golovkin is really over the hill, I can't see him not knocking Murata out who is pretty much there to be hit.

Yes, he seems tailor made for a slow relentless beat down.

This fight is not a sure thing either way. Golovkin is not what he used to be and Murata is very strong, big and is heavy handed. The biggest worry I'd have for Murata is his tendency to stand and trade...., that might make this fight exciting but it may make Murata too vulnerable to getting hit too much. I should also mention that Murata has a very good, fast, hard jab and he is MUCH fresher than GGG. I'm interested to see how this plays out.

Don't underestimate the fighting spirit of the warrior in Murata the Japanese fight for honour and respect he will not surrender and I will amazed if Golovkin stops him. GGG by close decision or late stoppage by TKO.
