Comments Thread For: Golovkin 'Feels Great At My Age,' But Admits Fighting At 40 'Might Be One Of My Issues'

Gennadiy Golovkin would've preferred much more activity than he has had since his brutal battle with Sergiy Derevyanchenko in October 2019.

Ummmm that’s not how it works but ok. PAC looked his age against ugas…that’s how it happens.

GGG next fight due to the styles of both fighters should be thrilling. Not to hyped in him fighting Canelo a third time. Too much time, weight and interactivity has occurred since the second fight.

If this is just one of his excuses for Murata, then there will be plenty for his Canelo fight. If he even makes out of Japan without losing.

I been saying it for a couple weeks now and I'll say it again.... I see age and inactivity playing a role here and Murata pulling out the win.

The only thing that makes me thing a 40 year old inactive Golovkin can win this Saturday is that comparing peak GGG to peak Murata, Golovkin was at least two levels above Murata.

Murata is 5 years younger but equally inactive. If Golovkin would be fighting a credible contender-level opponent in their early 30s I'd say he'd lose.

It's not just GGG's age.. Although he turns 40 this Friday.
As Marvin said, 'It's tough to get out of bed and do roadwork at 5am when you've been sleeping in silk pajamas.'
I'm interested in seeing what GGG has left. he's just a few months older than Nonito Donaire and I'm wondering whether he can conjure the same sort of renaissance Donaire is currently enjoying.
