He defended his title against terrible opposition and got handed 2 gift decisions (one win and one draw) in that span. It's easy to rack up title defenses when you're facing guys that never sniffed the TBRB or Ring Magazine top 10 at any point in their entire careers.

Ancajas was one of the weakest champions in boxing and many of us have been saying it for several years. He defended his belt against poor opposition and still had to be bailed out with bogus decisions more than once.

That isn't an indictment of Martinez. He can only beat the guy they put across from him. But Ancajas is not good, and was never good, and beating him doesn't make Martinez some world-beater. There's a reason Ancajas avoided the top guys in the division his whole career.

Good run for Ancajas. Hopefully he's OK and will bounce back. Took way too many shots to the head.

So who were the loss and draw you’re referring to?

Alejandro Santiago and Jonathan Javier Rodriguez. Both beat Ancajas 7-5 and got a loss and a draw, respectively.

I didn’t see the Santiago fight, so I can’t comment but I did see the Rodríguez fight and it was competitive but I realistically can’t see where you could have Rodríguez winning. It just didn’t happen that way.......

This guy obviously, definitely knows the game. Especially how "easy" it can get racking up defenses. Why I come to bscene, to encounter real experts. Jerwin DKSAB
