Comments Thread For: Jose Santa Cruz: I Want My Son To Fight At 126; He Doesn't Have The Punch For 130 Or 135

LAS VEGAS - Jose Santa Cruz doesn't want his son to fight at the 130-pound limit again. Leo Santa Cruz requested another 130-pound fight against Keenan Carbajal last Saturday night because his long layoff worried the former four-division champion. Fifteen months passed between his devastating defeat to Gervonta Davis and his return to the ring on the Keith Thurman-Mario Barrios undercard at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino's Michelob ULTRA Arena, enough time for Santa Cruz to have reached 154 pounds prior to the start of camp early in November for the Carbajal clash.

Yeah he was 128 after that year and half layoff so a couple more pounds shouldn't be a problem.

126 is only 4lbs less than 130 so I’d go out on a limb & say his punch probably isn’t that much better there either. Leo just doesn’t have power. He’s a great volume puncher but he’s always been all volume no power. Maybe if he could get all the way down to 122 he’d have something but he’s already a twig with virtually no muscle or fat so I doubt he could go that low without killing himself.

No more Gary at 126 so yeah it is safe to go back to 126 lol

Always liked Leo, great story of taking care of his family and taking care of his Sick Brother and his Father dealing with Cancer all that is great BUT as far as BOXING he did Duck Rigondeaux and Russell. Now with that being said, it all worked out for him, he put together a Hall Of Fame worthy Career for himself and he is a Millionaire and was able to build wealth for his family. So when you're able to Accomplish those things, I guess you won't give a damn about some nobody on Social Media and on a Boxing Forum Labeling you a "DUCK"

Leo Vs Mark Magsayo, Ray Vargas, Navarrete are all incredible stylistic matchups that I would to see though
