Mayweather could have actually cemented his legacy and shut his haters up by beating Canelo at 154

You know, the actual weight limit of the weight class. Even though Canelo was only 23, it still would be a huge win for Floyd.

Instead, Floyd proves all his doubters right, and drains young Canelo to 152. Nelo was a walking zombie and nearly fell over from the first jab he threw.

Floyd had his shot at true greatness, but blew it with a weasel catch-weight move.

He proved that all the hate and doubt he got his whole career, was well-deserved.

Idiots will say Nelo asked for the catchweight (LOL), or that 2lbs don't matter. But even if that's true, why didn't Floyd insist on 154, since he spent years criticizing catch-weights?

Facts. I have it as an 8/10 victory. Good win, but not an ATG victory. Leonard didn't put a catchweight on Hagler although he could have.

Fact. Mayweather never beat Canelo, he beat Drainelo, the worst version of ginger EVER

Canelo couldn't even make 154 anymore (he started fighting at 155 right after Floyd), more less a bs catchweight of 152

Fun fact. Canelo ended up so traumathized with his weight draining experience against Floyd, that a couple years later when he was asked if he'd fight Manny Pacquiao, Canelo replied that the fight would be only doable if Pacquiao moved up to his weight. ¨I learnt that from the fight with Mayweather, I'm never giving up weight advantage again¨

Canelo also did show signs of his PTSD regarding weight, in the negotations with GGG

"Look, I already sacrificed a lot of things to be where I am now, I [gave up a lot] when I faced Mayweather¨

"If the negotiations occur [with Golovkin], it has to be at a weight where the two of us are comfortable. I am prepared for whatever. I've already given advantages [to other fighters] during certain points periods [in my career]. And now I'm at a point where I can choose [what I want to do and] I will never give anyone those types of benefits again."

WBC middleweight champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (46-1-1, 32KOs) is training hard for his upcoming title defense against British star Amir Khan (31-3, 19KOs). Should Canelo win, he is mandated to make title defense against WBA/IBO/IBF middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs).

Never let some facts ruin a good story but let me state some anyway. Team Canelo signed onto 152 without even trying to negotiate. That means they thought it was no big deal. The fight previous to Floyd (Trout), Canelo came in at 153 1/2 so that mean only a mere pound and a half lighter. Draw from it what you want but I think Floyd was just the better fighter that night and all these 2 lb arguments are sour g****s by losers. I’ve never even heard Canelo try to use it for an excuse.

Floyd cemented his legacy against Canelo regardless.
