Comments Thread For: Jade Bornea-Mohammad Obbadi: IBF Approves Final Eliminator For Jerwin Ancajas

Jerwin Ancajas will enter his next fight with a mandatory title defense waiting in the balance. An agreed-upon fight between Italy's Mohammed Obbadi and Philippines' Jade 'Hurricane' Bornea has been approved by the International Boxing Federation (IBF) as a final eliminator to the IBF junior bantamweight title. The bout will take place January 14 in Monterrey, Mexico, with the winner to become the number-one contender to Anjacas, who is already scheduled for a voluntary title defense on February 5 or February 19 in the United States.

Well, a unification between IBF-WBO champs Jerwin Ancajas & Kuzoto Ioka should trump a newly assigned mandatory. Hopefully Japan's borders will be open for Ioka-Ancajas to take place in early 2022. The winner of Jade Bornea-Mohammad Obbadi is a acceptable opponent after a battle of champions ; Bornea-Obbadi should oblige Ioka-Ancajas as the winner stands to challenge the newly crowned unified champ for both titles.

Now, a piece of information in this article that puzzles me is that Bornea-Obbadi is due to take place on January 14 in Monterrey, Mexico? WHY?

My other notes : Kosei Tanaka with his recent win over IBF #5. contender Sho Ishida and chicken Charlie Edwards will be bumped up the IBF rankings after the aforementioned final eliminator concludes, so the IBF 'Superfly' ladder and championship might provide compelling matches in 2022.
