2 things are for certain -
Bud didn't quit and he wasn't in on the fix (if the fix was in).

My take on it is this. I believe Porter knew the fight was close and perhaps even thought he might be in front. Banging the canvas was a sign of knowing that having kept the fight razor close for 10 rounds that 2 knock downs blew that out of the water. He could have fought on but was theoretically 3 points down on that round with 2 to go which would have been perhaps too big of a hill to climb. His father throwing the towel in has been subject to all sorts of conspiracy theories...but most likely in the moment he misread Shawn's reaction to the second knock down.

Those knockdowns were legit, even with fair judging, it was a very even fight going into the 10th, with those 2 knockdowns, even if Porter survives to the final bell, he had no chance of winning on the cards. Porter was never expected to win, this fight was only interesting because it was a showcase to see how Crawford will perform against the top WWs, and he looked good.

Kenny Porter stopping it for no reason
Shawn pounding on the canvas completely overacting.
Last time a guy pounded on the canvas like that with fake acting was DLH when he quit vs Hopkins and then promptly hired him on as a GoldenBoy ambassador.
Someone wanting to really win would not waste energy and vital time pounding on the canvas, we could see where his head was. So he either quit out of fear or he had pre arranged to quit.Tags: None
