it was probably the Michael Hunter fight....it was ruled a draw but many thought Hunter should of won, if i remember right it was the first fight in which Pov got dominated via getting outboxed

I thought Povetkin won and a knockdown wasn’t counted .

Povetkin was coming off a bad knockout loss to A.J then a sub par performance against Hughie after shoulder surgery, that’s why team Hunter thought he was done and tried adding him to their resume just like Peter Fury . In truth A.J probably retired him after those huge blows to the head , I think Povetkin vs Whyte was telling even though Povetkin won it had more to do with what Whyte didn’t do after 2 knockdowns on him .

Povetkins worse loss was to Whyte either for health complications or Whyte was just to strong , people are forgetting Whyte had him down multiple times in the first fight .

Am I not remembering it right? Was the Povetkin hunter fight pretty close/competitive?

Absolutely not! The fight was very competitive and most believe Povetkin won, especially when you consider the knockdown of Hunter which was not counted.

Hunter came out aggressive and swinging in first round, but Povetkin regrouped and did a really good job in that fight against a young, slick fighter.

His biggest loss was the cancellation of the wilder fight in Russia.

Hunter started well, but he faded big time, at points it looked like he would get stopped. A draw seemed fair, but the decision could've gone to Povetkin.

He did look good for 3 or so rounds though.

His biggest loss was to Covid. That's because he had already been banned from using Meldonium which if he stayed on it would have dramatically helped his lungs.

I think that fight was a unexpected good performance from Povetkin 'It just seemed like Hunter was matched with Povetkin to get a good esteemed name on his record' But that plan did not quite materialize.

It was the type of fight where Povetkin had to grind hard, in order to stay competitive.

If Hunter was so good, he really should of been out classing Povetkin at that stage of his career.

The Michael Hunter fight, and then the Dillian Whyte fight was Povetkin's last wave attack upon the heavyweight division 'Povetkin was in solid condition for the first Dillian Whyte fight'.

So overall, I think Povetlin vs Hunter was on of Povetkin's best performances under the circumstances and at that stage of his career,
