  • Comments Thread For: Deontay Wilder Discharged From Hospital, Suffered Broken Hand In Second Loss To Fury

Deontay Wilder has been discharged from the hospital, though not with a clean bill of health. The former WBC heavyweight titlist was officially diagnosed with damage to his right hand suffered during his brutal third fight with lineal/WBC champion Tyson Fury. Alabama's Wilder (42-2-1, 41KOs) scored a pair of fourth-round knockdowns but was dropped in rounds three, ten and eleven--the last of which prompted an immediate stoppage at 1:10 of round eleven in their Pay-Per-View main event Saturday evening at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

    Those injuries sound serious
I think Wilder should seriously consider taking at least 6 months off from Boxing

He should have stuck with his usual gloves. Might have been a different fight.

The man fought with a broken hand, his one and only weapon, was knocked down, ear drum busted again, exhausted….I don’t like his style or his stubbornness but man do I have a newfound respect for his heart and fire

He broke it on Fury in the 4th. Got a knockdown, but destroyed his hand in the process.

Jake Donovan needs an editor. Everything after the fourth paragraph is unnecessary.

I’m also being kind because the fourth paragraph starts to wander into random thought land towards the end.

We don’t need to know about Mark Breland, Anthony Joshua, how the fight was rescheduled, etc. in an article about Wilder breaking his hand.

That, and he shouldn't have put on the weight. He played right into Fury's hands.

This fight was his best chance at a getting win over Fury, since Fury was probably in the worst shape he's been in for a fight. Wilder just happened to match him in that department hoping it would help him in the clinch and finish early. Played himself into going back to MX gloves out of pure rage, knowing he'd stopped using them because he'd already broken his hand before.

He should rest, take on an easy, come back fight, and proceed to KO Joshua. He should really push that fight now.

Wilder can survive hell; we saw it. But Joshua? That's a no. Despite his lack of sportsmanship, I came out impressed and a fan after these Fury fights.

Yes...I was just thinking that to myself after watching a video. He couldn't carry the extra weight...it was cargo. Wilder is just not built to be big. And I agree...Fury was not in his best shape...Covid needs a long recovery to get your lungs back...even if it's mild, and he didn't really have much of a training camp. Maybe they both had their respective handicaps.
