Puerto Rico's next superstar hopes to break through with a statement-making performance under the desert sun. Xander Zayas, the 19-year-old puncher from San Juan, will step up in class when he meets Jose Luis Sanchez in a six-round junior middleweight bout this Friday, Sept. 10 at the AVA Amphitheater at Casino Del Sol in Tucson, Arizona.

How much better would it be if it was Valdez v Shakur with herring and conceicao in the semi main?

I get you can make 2 cards but it just feels like a waste of a fight.

It feels like Conceicao doesn’t have a fair shot, made worse by the positive test for a banned substance and Arum failing to notify his team directly.

Damn this is a pretty big step up fight for Xander who just turned 19 the other day , Jose just had a draw against Adrian G. and hasn't lost since 2013 .

TopRank moving him quickly Adrian was Conor Benns best opponent and some people already got him ranked top 10 if not 15.

Herring wasn't going for that! He wanted Valdez as much as Shakur! I would really love Colbert vs. Stevenson, but we already know! If you had that, at Barclay's, it would be a flame thrower!

Fair point. Another poster suggested herring should get first shot at stevenson. I just think the last fight should’ve been herrring then and not that bum.

Same here. Nakatani has been coming to the U.S to train with us since he was 14 / 15.
I will be in the Team Junto crowd.

I didn't want Herring to have to fight Stevenson, because they're good friends!
