Comments Thread For: Ugas: Whoever Wins Fight With Pacquiao Will Be True WBA Champ, No Question About It

Yordenis Ugas understands the prevailing public perception of his status as the WBA's "super" welterweight champion. The WBA elevated Ugas from its world 147-pound champion to its "super" champion late in January, when the besmirched sanctioning organization stripped Manny Pacquiao of that crown due to inactivity. Pacquiao objected, but the Filipino icon hadn't fought since he edged previously undefeated Keith Thurman by split decision to win that title in July 2019.

one guy won the belt in the ring, and the other didn't. It's not hard to see who the legitimate champ is.

Like Ugas humbly states the the real WBA champ leaves with the belt Saturday night. It appears neither him nor PAC is counting there chickens before they hatch. I won’t be surprised at any outcome. This is boxing. Styles makes fights in the ring, not on paper.

The WBA is a corrupt organization that should be ashamed of itself. Four different belts for their welterweight champions. I am 100% that all of these champions pay sanctioning fees for their titles. To me the WBA's credibility is shot to hell.

I like ugas in this fight. Don't underestimate him. He's only lost once really. 3 of those were terrible judges cards that cost him

I'm excited for this fight. I think it'll be better than most people think it'll be.
