Andy Ruiz Jr Has Knee Surgery, Hopes to be Back in December

Ruiz (34-2, 22 KOs), 31, was hoping to face Charles Martin in October, but he finally made the decision to undergo the surgery that he said had been delayed for years.

"He underwent surgery on his right knee, he had been struggling with that knee for about three years," Andy Ruiz Sr. said. "He could not run very much, he could not do certain movements, he used gel to mitigate the pain, but it was not enough and he made the decision to get the procedure done, which was an arthroscopy. It was done by the same doctor who operated on Canelo [Alvarez], Pedro Lomeli Jaime."
Was wondering why his fight vs Martin did not get announced by now. Rafael also reported that Canelo's fight vs Plant may happen in December...So Ruiz will possibly be on that card??? Impossible due to the money Canelo/Plant will be receiving, but that would be nice.

Hopefully Ruiz has a smooth recovery and is back in the ring soon!

I'd much rather see that fight as well.

Clearly they want to set up the Wilder fight though but Ruiz vs Ortiz is a hell of a fight.

It’s not surprising that Ruiz would have knee issues seeing that he carries way too much extra fat on his body. The knee issue is yet another reason to reduce his weight. Eventually obesity will do a number on you.

Ahhhh….sheeeeit! Breaking down and already an old man. Boxers lives are getting shorter and shorter when they should be getting longer.

He needs to get morbidly obese again and stop shedding fat.

Ruiz took care of the surgery because deontay wilder won his arbitration case.

When he returns, he will be looking to fight Wilder again.

His fat ass needs to lose weight. He has too much weight on joints.

Why the hell would he delay knee surgery for three years? Especially given the profession that hes in? Probably gonna end up like sergio martinez especially since hes fat.

I remember he used to wear a brace in some fights going back at least 5-7 years ago, always wondered about that. With his new trainer, it will take more leg strength to do some of the maneuvers they are asking him to do. Looked like he didn't have the strength for it last fight, knee was probably hurting too. Might take longer for him to click with Reynoso
