George Foreman III Talks About Sparring Dad

On September 26 at the Coushatta Casino in Kinder, La., heavyweight prospect George Foreman III, also known as "Monk" Foreman, will have his third pro fight. Foreman made his pro debut in June, stopping Clyde Weaver in one and then grabbed a two-round stoppage over George Burrage in July. Before he was able to go pro, he had to convince his dad, former two-time heavyweight champion George Foreman, that he was serious about making it in the sport. [details]

"Every mistake I made, he made me pay for".

Really? Did he spend that training camp just getting knocked out by his dad every day? You heard it here first; George Foreman III is a shot-fighter.

Ol' man Foreman could prolly still knock out most of these pretenders today if he could land on them.

They've got a nice little narrative going, to be sure. There were also the lines previously about how George didn't want Monk to be a fighter because Big George gotten beat up so that Monk wouldn't have to.

However, a simple search on boxrec shows that several of Big George's kids have professional boxing records. George has always been a good promoter though.

Cant imagine how good the old man would be in sparring..
I know he was once a great fighter but that was when Don king was young

I would'nt wanna take any advice from someone that cant come up with different names for his kids..

Im shure foreman can teach his son a lot, he has lots of old school knowledge and he had so manny fights, with his experience he should be a good trainer for his son. Its also good to hear that hes training him hard and make him pay for mistakes, not every father would do that, most would be to soft to train their own son. George Jr. has to learn that boxing is a tough sport.
And he has lots to learn, he had no amateur bouts and his technique is still as poor as it gets.
