  • Comments Thread For: Mielnicki: Loss To Martin ******; I'm Gonna Put On Dominant Performance In The Rematch

By Keith Idec - LYNDHURST, New Jersey - Hindsight has taught Vito Mielnicki Jr. that haste can cost you dearly. If he had it to do over again, Mielnicki would've passed on returning to the ring April 17 in Los Angeles. The welterweight prospect, then just 18 years old, fought February 27 and although he won by third-round knockout, his handlers informed him that he could've come back later than April 17 if he wanted more time to rest and train.

A rematch makes no sense. how much could Vito have developed in 3 months? Martin soundly beat him. Dubious matchmaking. If Vito wins, I'll be surprised and impressed. Don't be fooled by the MD; he got beat up.

Parting ways with Goossen didn’t help him either. He’s just not into it 100%. I wouldn’t be surprised if Martin were to put up a better performance this time.

Martin just might have his number, so definitely a risky career move...Where does Vito go as a 8-2 “prospect” if he does lose?

Would not be surprised at all. He and his team are finding out right now whether he can compete at top level. I don't hate it. Step up or retire. I would not want the career of a Mason Menard where you take a lot of fights, incur a lot of damage, when it's obvious the whole time, that you cannot step up to the next level.

He's finding out right now whether to continue this boxing thing or just get a regular career. Why drag it on, I guess

And it was why he parted with Goosen is what I have a problem with concerning this young man. He parted ways with him because he was homesick for his family in NJ while training on the west coast. That just doesn’t bode well for the toughness or lack thereof for a fighter. It smacks of being raised in privilege. I’d love to see him win, American boxing could use him but he’s going to have to make up his mind if he wants to be a champion or if it’s better to go to college and work behind a desk

If you are young and love your family you are raised in privilege? Hurd loves his family too. Is that cause he was raised in privilege? If the kid was rich then I doubt he would be allowed to get into boxing. Maybe there were family problems he needed to help address that he didnt tell you about.

Anyhow, he just lost last time He wasnt as good.

He got outworked and just got beat up in the 7th round in the first affair. I will be at this fight live.

he never came forward. When he landed big, he didn’t land combinations after the big show.

While James didn’t back Vito up, Vita stood his ground and allowed James to fight it at his distance. I thought it was a clear win.
