Let me tell you step by step what has been happening since the accident.
After the accident, Bud said he don't wanna be Spence's first fight after the accident because he doesn't wana hear no accident excuses after he beats him, so the fight was never gonna happen inmediately after the accident anyway.
A lot of Spence fans and Bud haters hatped on Bud for being a duck when he said this, personally I thought they were being irrational and I agreed woĺly with Bud's sentiment.
Spence on the other hand was asked on the Brian Custer podcast interview who his next three fights would be if it were up to him and Spence replied:
"My next three fights would be Danny Garcia because he is my mandatory and I'm already signed to fight him anyway, then Manny Pacquiao for the WBA belt, and Terence Crawford for undisputed, in that order."
This was before Manny was stripped og his title so it made sense because Spence, from the start, has been talking about cleaning out his side of the street and then fighting Crawford. Taking the WBA from Manny would have meant that his side of the street was clean because he would have all the pbc belts (WBA, IBF, and WBC), which would mean that it was time to cross the street like he said he would after cleaning his side. So Spence's response was consistent to what he has said from the start, from before he even beat Brook.
Anyway, Spence was asked that question three more times in different interviews and his answer was exactly the same.
I think Bud was also asked that question and by Brian Custer, in fact he was but I don't remember his answer, though I think he did mention Spence after Manny Pacquiao, not sure though.
Anyway some time later after that, Bud had a mood swing. He said he was done chasing Spence and that he didn't need Spence to solidify his legacy and even said that Spence and "his little career" is irrelevant.
This was like a week before Spence vs Danny Garcia.
This seems to have pissed off Spence because after this Spence refused to entertain any Bud Crawford questions especially after the Danny Garcia fight.
I remember they asked him what he thought of Bud coming over to watch his fight and Spence said he didn't know why Bud was there nor did he care.
Spence continued to ignore all Bud Crawford questions after this and when he did entertain them, it was only to troll Bud with 80-20 and 70-30 splits.
I believe this ignoring him and trolling him with those splits was a way for Spence to show Bud who really is the irrelevant one between them, which it kinda worked because Bud began crying and comolaining again about Spence pricing himsekf out and what not (which shouldn't have mattered if he meant what he said about not needing Spence and his little career).
Spence seemed to come around again though after the Manny Pacquiao fight was announced. He made a surprise call to the barbershop radio show and answered questions about...well, everything really. He was pretty candid and open about all the topics that were breached, including Bud.
His answer when they asked about Bud was that he told Haymon he wants him to make the Bud fight after Manny. He also said he gonna call the other side of the street and find out what they talking about and if they aint talking about nothing then he gonna move up to 154lbs. I think before that he had also released a tweet saying that "we gonna find out who really ducking who once I get that WBA Belt".
Now, I believe Spence meant every word he said in the Barbershop interview and in the tweet, but here's the problem. At the time, everyone, including Spence, thought that Manny was going to be reinstated as WBA champ.
However, the WBA recently announced that they were not in fact reinstating Pac and Ugas would remain as champion.
This complicates things because Spence seemed intent on having all the other belts going into the Bud Crawford fight.
I also believe that this was a Haymon chess move to counter Spence's demand that he make the Bud Crawford fight next or Spence moves up.
It was seemingly public knowledge that Pac was to be reinstated and then all of a sudden the WBA changed their mind?
Seems fishy to me. I think Spence tried to checkmate Haymon but Haymon is playing GO or some other game.
I also think that Haymon is about to announce Ugas vs Thurman and is going to try and force Spence to fight the winner (likely to be Thurman).
Remember Spence has declared that he won't fight Thurman under any circumstances, but Thurman is one of Haymon's favorite sons, in fact, Haymon tried to push Thurman as the face of pbc while he had Spence going overseas to fight Brook. I think Spence felt a type of way about that especially because Haymon allowed Thurman to duck him while he had Thurman get the Porters, Danny's, and Pacman's of the world, which is why Spence refuses to give Thurman a chance now that Thurman is the one in obscurity.
Haymon gonna announce Thurman vs Ugas though, watch and see. Thurman gonna win (even if by robbery) and Spence gonna have to fight Haymon's favorite son if he wants to be undisputed.
