Comments Thread For: Charlo-Castano Continues a 21st Century Trend

By Cliff Rold - In little more than a week, boxing fans will be treated to their second fight for just about everything that says 'the man' in a weight class. It's the second four-belt unification of the year. Jermell Charlo (34-1, 18 KO) puts his three alphabet straps, Ring Magazine title, and claim to lineal the Jr. middleweight throne on the line against Brian Castano (17-0-1, 12 KO). The Transnational Boxing Rankings Board will recognize the winner as the king of the Jr. middleweights as well.

Fantastic to see another proper undisputed title fight happening so soon after Taylor vs Ramirez. Its great for the sport of boxing.May the best man win. Isn't it crazy luck though how opportunity just falls great for Jermell yet Jermall can't catch a break? The stars must be aligned. Who knew lol

Bad referee excuses coming in already. Nice way to head up a lengthy list.

Full unification fights are very rare. There was Taylor-Ramirez, and the much bigger Lewis-Holyfield fights.

The Loma-Lopez fight was not a full unification bout.

                There's unification and then there's 4-belt unification.

The former might still leave a doubt about who is the best in the weight class, like Spadafora vs Dorin did.

But the latter leaves no doubt about who is the man in the division.
