Comments Thread For: Teofimo Lopez Rejects Idea of Taylor Fight in UK: That Fight Would Be Somewhere Over Here

Teofimo Lopez Jr. still has every intention of pursuing the undisputed junior welterweight championship once he feels there is nothing else to accomplish in the lightweight division.

“Oh no, not at all. I won’t do it. I won’t take the fight to the U.K.,” Lopez insisted during a recent media conference call to otherwise discuss his June 19 title defense versus Australia’s George Kambosos Jr. (19-0, 10KOs). “It’s not because I don’t believe I can’t beat him in the UK. It’s just the fact that I can see how much animosity that folks are carrying that I’m not undisputed at 135. “I can just see the amount of favoritism over there. That fight would be somewhere over here.”

Not a good look son! First you say you want the fight, and everybody is scared, etc., then you say you won't fight the Undisputed Jr. Welterweight of the World in his home? You want him to put up his belts, and he has to travel to you?

If i was Taylor I'd never fight in America ever again.

If Teofimo wants the belts, he would have to put on a kilt and travel to Scotland.

Hilarious. He's all over the place.

Everyone is scared, but he won't travel to the champion's backyard, they'll have to come to him.
He's going to checkmate Haney on every end, even force him to purse bid. But after that he can't go to the UK because there's too much animosity that he's not undisputed. OK...
He's the cash cow of the division yet he's jumping on a plane to Australia as soon as Triller open their wallets. But he won't go to the UK, not because he doesn't think he'll win, mind.
He can see the favouritism in the UK. Therefore the fight should be in the US, where presumably there will be the right kind of favouritism.

Concentrate on Kambosos first, Teo. If you get through that, then you need to start looking into facing Haney for the one belt you lack.

Teo, all great fighters and great men look to broaden their horizons. You could be fighting with a dramatic background like Edinburgh Castle ffs rather than the same old Vegas theatres or whatever (which are iconic in their own right of course). Come on, man! Get yo azz on a plane.

Lol. That’s not the reason he won’t fight in the U.K. He saw the Taylor- Ramirez scorecards and realised how much favouritism their was in the USA and how that could benefit him in any close fight. I love teo but he sounds like a hoe on this one.

Plus, HE'S THE CHALLENGER! How do you try to dictate terms to a champ with 4 belts, and you're not even in his weight class?

If I was Taylor, I would return to America only for Pacquiao payday or something like that.

**** this Lopez guy who wants to get the belts on domestic score cards.
