As with any sport, boxing is at its most compelling when the two very best competitors face each other --in fighting's case, in a particular division. Boxing is most visually and intellectually interesting when two fighters of differing approaches but similar mindsets battle one another.

There are 3 dominant level British fighters on the world championship scene....and Warren has 2 of them. Hearn, 1. The two Warren has are undefeated and recognised as the best in their divisions. The irony isn’t lost on me.....an odd case of the squeaky wheel not getting the grease so to speak.

"The answer to when we will get the next undisputed title fight should theoretically be immediately evident. Instead, the answer is “when we get lucky again.”

The answer is Saturday, July 17, 2021! Charlo vs. Castano for the Undisputed Jr. Middleweight Champion of the World!

Taylor did it, Jermell will shortly, Canelo will follow that, Teofimo might clean up lightweight in this same time period, and the heavyweights should be worked out this year end as well. So that leaves middleweight, welterweights to get their acts together. All in all I think boxing is moving in the right direction.

That’s definitely a fight to be excited about as a boxing fan.

A wise article. Lopez isn't an undisputed champion though, because he didn't fight Haney for that wbc belt. Canelo certainly looks to be on his way to be undisputed champ before the end of the year, barring an upset.

Once one becomes the undisputed champion, it's very difficult to satisfy all four sanctioning bodies without being stripped of one of the titles.

Of course boxing matches were much better when there was one true champion, that you had to fight, no ducking.

Watch how rare it becomes when there are 5 recognized sanctioning bodies, and then 6 and 7. The problem here has less to do with the politics created by 4 sanctioning bodies than the fact that fans accept and validate 4 sanctioning bodies in the first place. There doesn't need to be 4 championship belts in a division. There doesn't need to be 3 or 2 belts for that matter. It seems that a majority of fans, writers and pundits blindly extoll the glory and significance of a 4-belt undisputed champion without realizing that it is all nothing but a scam perpetuated by a cabal of self-interested power brokers. Every knowledgeable fan instinctively knows that the proliferation of belts in boxing is a bad thing, and YET, it seems most boxing fans still cannot resist giving credibility and significance to the idea of a 4-belt unified champion. Most people can't see five feet in front of them.

Josh Taylor isn't with Frank Warren you melon. He's with Bob Arum. Not every Bob Arum fighter is with Frank.

Eddie does however have your obsession and lives in your head full time. So he must be doing something right. We await your tomorrow ramblings when Eddie collects the rent. Haha.

Well we do have Charlo/Castano, Figueroa/Fulton & hopefully Alvarez/Plant. Hopefully we get to see the Oubaali/Donaire winner take on Inoue.
