Comments Thread For: Canelo: Saunders Did Whatever He Wanted With Lemieux; But I'm Not David Lemieux

ARLINGTON, Texas - Canelo Alvarez took notice of Billy Joe Saunders' most impressive performance. The four-division champion commended Saunders for the boxing clinic the British southpaw produced against David Lemieux in December 2017. Saunders traveled to Lemieux's proverbial backyard that night and completely out-classed the hard-hitting middleweight contender throughout their 12-round fight for Saunders' WBO middleweight title at Place Bell in Laval, Quebec, Canada.

Canelo haters are banking on a similar outcome. Lemuix is a very basic 1-2 puncher who doesn't set-up his combos. Tonight we'll see there's levels in boxing. Canelo is at the very top level right now.

I can see Saunders winning the first 4 or 5 rounds easily as Canelo will look amateurish trying to catch him. After that, I can see his stamina slowly fading and Canelo breaking him down to knock him out late. The scorecards will have Canelo winning all but 2 rounds though..

No comparison between Lemieux and Canelo. Lemieux is a basic one heavy punch guy.
BJS will be backing up and eating body shots and counters before he has time to set anything up he wants.
Little Billy Hoe will be crying to Daddy after this ass whipping he’s about to get.

Still expecting a dull fight but let’s hope for some good exchanges. I can see BJS taunting Canelo at times when Canelo misses. BJS strategy will be to frustrate him amd get him off his game plan. This fight is going the distance with Canelo getting UD.

Saunders will end up running. He can’t stand close to Alvarez and mix it up. Not only is Alvarez deceptively quick, but he can hit as hard as Golovkin. If Saunders gets his ribs whacked one good time, he’ll end up just fleeing for dear life in that great big ring. If he runs down, Alvarez will likely knock him out in the latter rounds. If he fails to run fast enough early, Alvarez might knock him out early. If Saunders has the stamina for a long run (and he looked trim at weigh-in), then it may turn into 36 minutes of dull, boring pursuit, like watching a couple of guys running a 10K.

Nothing funnier than when people bring this up like it's some gotcha or breakthrough people who rate Saunders haven't considered
