Comments Thread For: Saunders: I Don't Really Know What I've Got, How Good I Am; And That's The Truth

Billy Joe Saunders was surprisingly honest. As confident as the British southpaw is in his boxing ability, ring IQ and toughness, he isn't certain he is capable of beating Canelo Alvarez on Saturday night. The unbeaten WBO super middleweight champion concedes that he'll take an enormous step up in competition when he encounters the Mexican icon in their 12-round, 168-pound title unification fight at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Whilst I don’t like BJS, I think he’s talking truth here. Way back before their fight, Eubank stated that he’d beat Golovkin, and BJS said GGG would beat them both on the same night. Whereas nowadays I think BJS could take him.

He seems to be pretty earnest with his abilities and has that Froch mentality where he never realised he’d actually have the ability to become world champ etc.

Bjs is up against the best in the world so of course there is uncertainty, because no matter who bjs has beat, no-one was as good as nelo. Unless bjs beat fury, or AJ in sparring.
But fury believes in him, seems to think bjs is pfp no1

Think bjs will be a bit overwhelmed once he feels the first well placed power punches from the Mexican he's in the best shape on his entire career and with full prep camp no excuses, lets just hope he step up to occasion n make it a great fight to watch

saunders only good wins are lemieux and andy lee. mediocre resume. 168 is full of mediocre resumes. non elite fighters. probably one of the weakest divisions in boxing right now.

It’s a good match up that’s all that matters

Bjs will bring different angles than most of clens opponents

looking forward to a good scrap

Same here. I'm curious how Caneloroid does against Saunders style.

Well, now he knows what he doesn't have. And there wouldn't be any shame in that.
But when you say about Daniel Dubois- 'You've got to get carried out of the ring brother. You've got to get carried out of the ring." You have to take it for what it is.
He was paid millions tonight. Millions. K
He was nearly at the pinnacle, he wasn't just starting out his pro career, and as soon as everything went south, despite being paid millions to give his all to get to the pinnacle- he didn't want to take his own advice of being carried out.
