Comments Thread For: Joseph Diaz Jr: I'll Step In And Fight Javier Fortuna

Joseph 'JoJo' Diaz Jr. is ready to step in and save the show. The former junior lightweight titlist has expressed an interest in a summertime clash with Dominican Republic's Javier Fortuna, replacing Ryan Garcia (21-0, 18KOs) who recently bailed from a planned WBC interim lightweight title defense due to personal issues. BoxingScene.com has learned that such a replacement bout is at least being explored, though in the very early stages and dependent upon a number of variables.

Did I miss it, or is BScene ignoring this...

Manny Pacquiao vs Terence Crawford fight reportedly “all but dead” for June 5
Funding reportedly never materialized for the fight.
      April 24, 2021

The idea of Manny Pacquiao vs Terence Crawford in a June 5 pay-per-view from Abu Dhabi never seemed all that real or likely to actually happen, and now it seems it definitely won’t.

Mike Coppinger reports that “funding from Abu Dhabi investors never came through,” and the fight “appears all but dead.”

This shouldn’t really come as any surprise to anyone. There’s still going to be a hesitance from investors to pay big money for major fights with COVID-19 concerns hardly over and done with, for one thing.

Furthermore, this is roughly the 900th fight of this stature that supposedly had big money coming from Abu Dhabi or Dubai or Macau or Saudi Arabia or wherever that ultimately amounted to nothing.

Manny Pacquiao’s business manager claims he’ll face Mikey Garcia in summer
      April 27, 2021

With his planned June 5th clash against Terence Crawford dead in the water, Manny Pacquiao reportedly has a new target in mind. His business manager, Arnold Vegafria, posted a teaser on Instagram claiming “Pac-Man” would meet Mikey Garcia in Dubai later this year.

Why not ? He did dirty up his rep with the whole weight issue last time, but people forget and story can be rewritten before the actual fight. With all the games being played in boxing it is not a big deal. Drop his name in, keep a card alive and who knows, sure why not. he might regain his rep if he ever lost it from last time. Just put a note in there if he dont come in the right weight then he is punished by.........having to fight G.Davis. at whatever weight Davis is at at the time he steps in the ring.

Kudos to Diaz for that. I’d like to see this one. It’s good that he’s trying to stay active.

Once again, Mexicans showing a certain demographic how a man should conduct himself with courage, authority, and confidence...not with unwarranted entitlement, egotistical behavior, or cowardice.

Diaz showing cojones. Fortuna is high risk and has fought his way to a spot and a chance at a title.

Strip Garcia and sanction Fortuna-Duaz for interim title and/or mandatory to Haney.

But didn't Ryan Garcia who is Mexican just quit? Hasn't he in fact always had entitlement issues, always displayed egotistical behavior while showing cowardice in refusing to fight Haney who holds the belt. You can't have it both ways Migo.
