  • Comments Thread For: Navarrete: I Want War With Christopher Diaz; He's Gonna Try To Move Around, Run

By Keith Idec - Emanuel Navarrete thinks he'll encounter a cautious Christopher Diaz on Saturday night. Eventually, though, the defending WBO featherweight champion is confident Diaz will succumb to trying to satisfy an arena full of proud Puerto Rican boxing fans in Kissimmee, Florida. That's when Navarrete envisions a typical brawl between a Mexican and a Puerto Rican developing in the main event of an ESPN doubleheader that also will showcase super middleweight knockout artist Edgar Berlanga.

I met that Chris Diaz dude and he was a cool cat. I honestly thought he was going to be the top upcomer from PR back when he was being billed alongside Felix Verdejo. I just thought he was more versatile and didn't rely on his athleticism as much as Verdejo did. Unfortunately he's had his bumps in the road and kind of fell off his ways. I'd like to say similar to the way Juan Manuel Lopez did, but Lopez at least accomplished more before he got derailed.

I'll be cheering for Diaz but I honestly think Navarrete is going to be just too much for him to overcome. This fight will be similar in styles of Cotto-Margarito. With both obviously playing the same as their counterparts role. Once Diaz can no longer move as effectively, Navarrete's pace and work rate will be too much for Diaz to overcome. I'm thinking a late stoppage for Navarrete.

        What are you saying?

NSB says you're supposed to just stand and trade for 12 rounds or however long without moving.

Emanuel Navarrete, last fought count Dracula, this time hes fighting a smurf ( Pitufo ), you cant make this stuff up. Ruben Villa, had the amature credentials but the public found-out that the 'Cowboy' skill-set is underrated. Christopher Diaz will find this truth early in the fight and likely go into survival-mode.

Navarrete is always fleshy, soft at the body. He had to strip to make weight today, BECAUSE HE'S TOO BIG FOR THE DIVISION AND WINNING IS ALMOST ALWAYS EASIER THAT WAY.

In fact, that's most probably why he doesn't ever have any muscle mass - because again, if he did, he wouldn't make the division.

            That's his advantage.
We've never seen Pitufo hurt, but we've seen him stop who he's hurt, and I think the possibility of that happening tomorrow night is more likely than not. We've seen him outboxed, and undersized. Though, Navarrete isn't a Shakur Stevenson or boxing savant of any sort.

I'm looking forward to an entertaining match, regardless of the outcome.
