Comments Thread For: Jermell Charlo-Brian Castano To Headline Showtime Telecast; Date & Venue TBA

Jermell Charlo has secured his chance to become boxing's fully unified 154-pound champion. BoxingScene.com has confirmed that Charlo and unbeaten Brian Castano have agreed to terms for a title unification fight. Showtime is expected to televise Charlo-Castano as a main event either in June or July, though the date hadn't been solidified as of Sunday.

    Let's go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is going to be a hell of a fight.

The rumors of this fight being on Spence/Ugas never made any sense. Maybe Jermall Charlo can be on the UC of the Spence card, but this fight deserved to be a headliner.

Undisputed match ups at 140, 154 and hopefully the HW division...And then if Spence beats Ugas and Crawford wins his next fight, let's get one at 147 as well.

Is this going to be the first undisputed unification at 154 in the four belt era?

Yes, only undisputed champs in the four belt era have been Hopkins/Taylor/Crawford/Usyk. Will soon add a few more names to that list later this year.

Very good fight indeed. Will be looking forward to that one. I think the PBC been holding back on their roster as much as they could until they get the freedom to go back to max capacity in the venues. So let's hope we see more exciting match ups like this one.

It made sense from a financial standpoint. They trying to hype up spencer as a ppv draw and him fighting ugas aint gonna sell so they would need a good undercard.

How much would Charlo/Castano help though? And what will their purses be? And I don't think Charlo was going to accept being on any UC, especially for a undisputed showdown...And nor should he. The PPV was going to sell whatever it was off of Spence's name. If it doesn't do good? Then so be it, but I don't think they were going to be able to afford to have this fight on the UC since I'm guessing the combined purses were going to be 5M+.
