  • Comments Thread For: Jaime Munguia To Face D'Mitrius Ballard, Replacing Sulecki; Fight Moved to April 23 In El Paso

Jaime Munguia has a new opponent--and a new fight date with the switch. As previously reported by BoxingScene.com, Dmitrius Ballard has answered the call to face the unbeaten former WBO junior middleweight titlist on short notice. The bout was formally approved by DAZN brass and announced by Golden Boy Promotions, though now due to take April 23-- one day earlier to Munguia's previously scheduled ring return. The event will still air live on DAZN from Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas, with a new televised start time of 9:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. local.

Still a decent fight, favor Munguia but Ballard is a live dog

This might be a tougher fight for Munguia then Sulecki style wise. Only unknown is Ballard hasn't fought since the shutdowns but if he's kept himself in shape during Covid he is a trickier style to deal with, never ever lost, never even been dropped. Ballard won that Falcao fight got robbed with the draw. Falcao an Olympian is a good fighter. Only question mark is what condition has he been in during Covid.

Is Ballard any good? I only really saw him against Falcao.

This sort of replacement can be dangerous on short notice.
