Comments Thread For: Hearn: If Ryan Garcia, Team Thought He Could Beat Devin Haney, They'd Fight Him

Eddie Hearn hopes Mauricio Sulaiman orders a Devin Haney-Ryan Garcia fight for the WBC's world lightweight title. If the WBC president at least mandated a Haney-Garcia fight, Garcia would be backed into a position where he'd have to fight Haney or give up the WBC interim lightweight title that he won by knocking out Luke Campbell in the seventh round of their January 2 fight at American Airlines Center in Dallas. Of course, Garcia could simply vacate the WBC interim championship and still fight someone other than Haney next if Sulaiman were to order that 135-pound title bout.

Honestly Ryan NEVER seemed all that eager to fight Haney even when they did their little Face Off Promo

It has always been Ryan talking about "Not Now" "Later" now it has turned into never fighting him because he is "Boring"

I think Ryan wants the biggest fish. Somebody who can his advance his career. Haney isn't that guy. Maybe I'm wrong. It depends on who Garcia fights next.

Hearn needs as usual to put some names on his fighters instead of begging .Garcia is a big name and chooses who gets it ...Edward should understand this!

Come on, if Ryan wanted Haney that fight would have been made, Haney can't avoid him he's mandatory for his belt. Look if Ryan isn't ready or has a bigger fish then fair enough but he obviously isn't keen on a Haney fight.

If something bigger is there, fair enough, but anything other than this, it's defo a side step.

Ryan is blatantly ducking Haney. LMAO.

                  " . . . if they thought they’d beat him, they’d fight him. "

Probably the truest statement Hearn has made in years!

Well the consensus top five lightweights are (in no particular order):

                    1. Teofimo Lopez
                    2. Vasiliy Lomachenko
                    3. Gervonta Davis
                    4. Ryan Garcia
                    5. Devin Haney

Haney is the only one of those five who seems eager to fight Ryan right now and they are both on DAZN.

Unless Ryan gets a bigger fight by moving up (or against someone moving up to 135) then I think Devin Haney would be a good fight (especially if Haney wins impressively against Jorge Linares)
