Thing is Hopkins was a class act and didn't ***** about it, nor did he speak much about it, and put 4 titles on the line. Also Oscar pulled a SRL and had him come in even lighter.
they kept that a secret......that wasnt made public at the time of the fight.......thx
Yes it was.
Some people (not many, but a few) on message boards complained about it. ESPN interviewed De La Hoya on the topic of the catchweight after they weighed in.
It just didn't get the type of attention as this Pac-Cotto has.
For one, Hopkins said in previous interviews that he'd fight DLH at a catchweight, so there wasn't this dispute between the 2 camps.
Plus, everyone figured Hopkins would win anyway, so most people didn't care.

I missed the build up and all that for this one.......Hopkins is a classy dude
It wasn't a catchweight fight because it wasn't public knowledge. It trickled out later that Oscar made Hopkins "make some concessions" to make the fight happen. They didn't advertise it as a catchweight fight because Oscar told them to keep it a secret.
yea....just a little my dude .......I mean peeps are sayin' there was ESPN interviews and stuff.......I was unable to get this type of info at the time!!.....big ups
